How are my goods transported as a part and full load?

Our range of partial and full truckload services ensures that your larger shipments reach their destination efficiently and securely. Here, we explain in detail the transport process and the responsibilities during loading and unloading:

Partial Loads (LTL - Less than Truck Load):

Partial loads are ideal for quantities of goods that occupy a significant portion of the truck's load space but are not enough to fill an entire truck. In this type of transport, goods are typically collected from various shippers and transported together.

  1. Pickup of Goods: A truck collects the goods from various locations, which may include one or two additional pickup stops after the initial loading.
  2. Transport of Goods: Once all the goods are loaded, the truck heads to the destinations according to the planned route.
  3. Unloading of Goods: The goods are unloaded in the sequence that is most time-efficient.

On some routes for our partial loads, it may occur that a load is transferred. This allows the affected truck drivers to cover shorter distances so they can spend their evening off at home.

Full Loads (FTL - Full Truck Load):

For full loads, the entire truck's load space is used by a single shipment. This is typically driven directly from the pickup location to the destination without intermediate stops or transfers, ensuring a fast and secure transport as the shipment remains in the same vehicle throughout and is delivered directly to the consignee.

  1. Pickup of Goods: A truck is sent to the shipper and fully loaded on site.
  2. Direct Transport: The truck travels directly to the destination without interruptions.
  3. Unloading of Goods: At the destination, the truck is unloaded and the goods are handed over to the consignee.

Loading and Unloading Methods

Various loading and unloading options are available for both types of transport, depending on the facilities at the pickup and destination locations:

Dock Loading: Here, the truck is driven to a loading dock where loading or unloading is performed using a pallet jack or forklift. The availability of the dock on-site and all necessary equipment is required.

Side Loading: In this method, the truck is loaded or unloaded from the side using a forklift, wheel loader, and similar techniques. The availability of all technical aids is required.

Crane Loading: This method is used when the goods to be loaded are so heavy or bulky that they need to be lifted onto the truck using a crane. A crane must be present at the loading or unloading site.

Tail Lift and Pallet Jack Loading: Tail lifts and pallet jacks are suitable tools when very light and non-sensitive goods are transported or no other loading and unloading options are available. The loading and unloading are performed directly by the driver.

The use of a tail lift and pallet jack for loading and unloading is only possible for goods up to a size of 240x120x200 cm and a weight of up to 1000 kg. Please ensure that the ground at the unloading location is level. The driver will only deliver the goods to the curbside. Please note that for larger items over 1.80 meters in height or heavier items over 600 kilograms, the driver will require assistance due to the size or weight. The ground must be level, and a person should be available on site to help with loading and unloading.

Responsibility

For the loading methods of dock loading, crane loading, and side loading, the shippers and consignees are responsible for correct loading. They must ensure that the necessary equipment is available. For loading with a tail lift and pallet jack, the driver handles the loading and unloading as long as the shipment does not exceed the size and weight limits.
