What is important information for booking Direct Loads and LTL/FTL transports?

When booking Direct Loads and LTL/FTL transports, there are some important aspects to consider compared to groupage freight in order to ensure a smooth process.

Important: With Cargoboard, you automatically book a Less than Truck Load as soon as you ship more than 6 Euro pallets at once. Above this quantity, it no longer makes sense to ship your goods as groupage freight.

Loading and unloading

The selection of suitable loading and unloading methods is crucial. Customers should ensure that the necessary technology is available at both the shipper and the consignee. Within the platform, you can select the available loading and unloading methods for both the shipper and the consignee.

Suitable technology would be a forklift, loading ramp or crane, for example. These avoid unnecessary delays and make the transport process easier.

Parking and turning options

Before booking, the parking and turning facilities at the pick-up and delivery locations should be checked. The size of the vehicle used should match the spatial conditions on site in order to avoid blockages or difficulties when manoeuvring.

If there are any particularities at one of the two locations, you should note these in the free text field for comments during the booking process.

Packaging of the goods

Appropriate packaging is essential for the safety of the goods during transport. It is important that the goods are either packed securely or in such a way that they can be secured and transported on the truck without damage.

Communication and documentation

The timely provision of all necessary information, such as reference numbers and documents for collection or delivery, is important. If a specific date or time slot is required for delivery, this should be taken into account when booking the transport and noted in the free text field.

Contact details and availability 

The timeliness and accuracy of the contact details of the shipper and consignee are crucial. In the event of problems during collection or delivery, the parties involved should be contactable by phone or e-mail to enable quick clarification.

Hint: You can enter further information in the free text field during the booking process or nominate a second contact person.

Changing the collection date

You have the option of changing the collection date of your shipment at any time up to the day before the scheduled collection.

Please note the following restrictions: 

  • If you wish to change your pick-up date after 12 pm on the day before the scheduled pick-up, a fee of up to 75% of the transport price may be charged for the change of date.
  • If you have booked a standard transport and would like a fixed pick-up date instead of a pick-up window of three days, you must cancel your current transport order and rebook the transport with the premium option.
  • If you have already booked a premium transport, you can simply adjust your collection date by changing the order in our Solution Center.

Cancellation fees 

Failure to observe the cancellation deadlines may result in cancellation fees.For cancellations after 12 pm on the day before collection, up to 75% of the freight costs, up to a maximum of 800.00€ net, may be due.

Explanation: In the case of FTL/LTL as well as Direct Loads, the cancellation fee is higher than for groupage freight, as the truck does not drive predetermined routes within a small radius, but has been specially provided for the desired route and often no replacement shipment can be found.

Charges for delays 

In the event of delays caused by the shipper or consignee that last more than 2 hours, additional costs of 80.00€ net per hour or part thereof may be incurred. This applies to the waiting time for both collection and delivery.

Pallet exchange of Euro pallets 

For LTL/FTL as well as Direct Loads, a flat rate of 75€ is charged for pallet exchange. This amount remains the same regardless of whether you are sending 7 or 33 pallets.
