How does the transport of my goods in groupage freight work?

Groupage freight offers a cost-efficient solution for shipping goods, in which multiple shippers share the capacity of a truck. During the transport, the goods are reloaded several times to optimize routes.

What is groupage freight?

In groupage freight transport, goods from various shippers are combined and transported in one truck. This transport process is ideal for smaller shipments that do not fill an entire truck and ensures efficient use of transport capacity.

Collection of Goods

A truck collects the goods at various locations. Therefore, additional pickups may occur before and after collecting your goods to efficiently bundle the cargo in one truck. Typically, the loading is carried out by the driver using a pallet jack.

Transshipment Processes

Unlike partial and full truckloads, goods in groupage freight transport are transshipped at various points. This is done to optimize routes and reduce transportation costs. The goods are consolidated at regional transshipment depots and prepared for onward transport.

Transport of Goods

After consolidation, the goods are distributed to various trucks that then head to their destinations.

Delivery of Goods

Typically, the driver unloads the goods to the curb using a pallet jack.

Note: The use of a tail lift and pallet jack for loading and unloading is only possible for goods up to a size of 240x120x200 cm and a weight of up to 1000 kg. Please ensure that the ground at the unloading location is level. The driver will only deliver the goods to the curbside. Please note that for larger items over 1.80 meters in height or heavier items over 600 kilograms, the driver will require assistance due to the size or weight. The ground must be level, and a person should be available on site to help with loading and unloading.

What does standard transit time mean?

In our groupage freight transports, we specify a standard transit time. This duration indicates the average delivery time for similar shipments in the same region. This time can vary, especially in case of unforeseen events such as traffic disruptions or high shipment volumes. We strive to keep you informed about the estimated arrival time of your shipment throughout the process.

Transport Execution and Tracking

We collaborate with a network of over 80 established and long-standing freight partners in 43 countries. These partnerships enable us to efficiently coordinate the transport of your goods and keep you informed about the location of your cargo at all times. The process of collecting goods from various shippers and multiple transshipments makes it complex, yet our logistics partners are specialized in managing this smoothly and safely.
