How does the climate protection contribution work?

The climate protection contribution is a key element in our efforts to make the logistics sector more sustainable. This contribution helps to counter the CO2 emissions caused by the transport of your goods.

The Climate Protection Contribution is a mechanism that calculates the CO2 emissions produced from transporting your goods, and the necessary investment in our ongoing climate protection project to balance out these emissions. Our current project is based in Vietnam and creates biogas from waste, providing support to the local small farmers.

We collaborate with the non-profit organisation myclimate to facilitate these calculations. Myclimate has devised a CO2 emissions calculator, which helps estimate the required investment to offset the CO2 emissions generated by your shipment.

Why Should You Consider the Climate Protection Contribution?

Today's logistics industry largely relies on diesel trucks, making it a significant source of CO2 emissions. We recognise that we're yet to achieve a wholly eco-friendly solution. However, we don't want to stay idle until the perfect solution is found. Hence, we offer you an opportunity to invest in climate protection projects that counteract the CO2 impact of your transportation.

It's important to understand that investing in climate protection projects doesn't directly clean transports or prevent CO2 emissions. But it does contribute significantly towards mitigating the climate impact of your shipments.

What Is the Cost of the Climate Protection Contribution?

The cost of the Climate Protection Contribution depends on the specific details of your shipment, including the weight, dimensions, and distance travelled.

For example, if you were to transport a 100 kg Euro pallet from Hamburg to Munich, the Climate Protection Contribution would be a mere €0.30. Similarly, for shipping two 200 kg Euro pallets from Paris to Berlin, you would only have to contribute €1.57 towards climate protection.
